Balboa Oaks Merit Badge Midway!
Saturday, March 25, 2017
LDS Church, 17101 Plummer St., on the corner of Plummer and Amestoy (just west of Balboa) in Northridge.
To offer Merit Badge classes to Scouts working their way to Eagle.
Contact the counselor in advance, read the merit badge pamphlet, do any pre-requisites, attend the class, complete the class, and get your Blue Card. You may take more than one class.
All classes are free! There will be a Snack-O-Ree with snacks during the day and food available at lunchtime for purchase.
Sign-ups for merit badge classes are required before the day of the midway - please contact your counselor directly! Some classes may be available the day of the midway, but are not guaranteed.
You bet. Show up in full uniform and look your best.
Bring Merit Badge Booklet, Pen and Paper? Of course. Good idea to bring your brain too!

It is your responsibility to see what, if any, requirements you need to complete before class. Read the class schedule carefully for requirements that may need to be done before the Midway. Double check the pre-requisites in the book if there is nothing listed in the class schedule. If you do not complete a class, you will be given a partial Blue Card with the requirements signed off that you have completed.

We can use a few of you to help during the day, especially in the morning. If you can lend a hand for an hour or two, please contact Ralph Ward or Michele Smith!

Merit badges and their arrangements are to be made by Scouts, not parents. Have the Scout handle the preparations and the phone calls and contacts. This interaction and making arrangements with people they do not know is a big part of the value of the merit badge program.

For questions, please call Keith or Michele Smith at (818) 830-6958.

Some merit badges will take more than one session.

Session I 9 am - 10:30 am
Session IA 9 am - 12:15 pm (includes 15-minute break)
Session II 10:45 am - 12:15 pm
Lunch 12:15 pm - 1 pm (plan to visit our Snack-O-Ree)
Session III 1 pm - 2:30 pm
Session IIIA 1 pm - 4:15 pm (includes 15-minute break)
Session IV 2:45 pm - 4:15 pm

To make this a successful event, we need your help: please sign up to teach a merit badge. Even if you have never been to a Merit Badge Midway, you will find this an easy, fun, and rewarding experience. You can help for just a few hours, or all day. The Midway will consist of 4 sessions, each 1 ½ hours in length. We need counselors to teach Eagle requirements as well as other merit badges. We will try to get Scouts to sign up for your session in advance.

This year, we will try to do all of the preliminary work by e-mail and phone. You will be in control of the prerequisites, and we will limit the size of your class and the time that you need to your specifications. We would like to do this all electronically. If you are a merit badge counselor, then please fill out and submit the following form.

You can also print out this form, fill it out, and mail it to:
