Subject: Council Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner April 17, 2008
To: All Eagle Scouts in the 2007-2008 Class and their parents and Scoutmasters
To: All Eagle Scout supporters
From: Janice Druez, Volunteer VP Program, Western Los Angeles County Council
Once a year, the Western Los Angeles County Council Advancement & Recognition Committee, chaired by Bill Norris (Antelope Valley) and comprised of the advancement chairs of all 6 districts, hosts a dinner to recognize and congratulate our latest Eagle Scouts. For anyone wanting to see the best of the best, and enjoy an evening that recognizes the positive in our world, it's a not-to-be-missed event.
Who? We recognize those Eagle Scouts who achieved that rank since January of 2007 (the Eagle class of 2007-2008). They do not pay for their dinner. We invite their parents to attend. We invite their Scoutmasters to attend. We invite others from the community (including others in Scouting) to attend and host an Eagle Scout for their dinner. We invite patron sponsors to assist in defraying the cost of the evening.
What? An evening of music, inspirational and enjoyable speaker, recognition of the Eagle Scouts, display of memorabilia & flags, a chance to meet others, hear words of wisdom from other Eagle Scouts, and be moved by the repetition of the Eagle Scout Oath by all Eagle Scouts present. A group photo of the Eagle Scouts present is taken at the end of the evening. Eagle Scouts and Eagle Scout dinner hosts receive a commemorative gift thanks the generosity of a patron.
When & Where? Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys from 6:30 - 9 p.m. (7277 Valjean Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91406)
Space is limited! Eagle Scouts will soon be receiving an invitation and response form in the mail.
Please be sure to SAVE THE DATE and encourage all Eagle Scouts in this year's class to attend. Parents and Scoutmasters should plan to attend to support their Eagles, as well as receive our thanks for their part in helping them get there.
A Sponsor/Dinner patron form is attached for those who wish to help make this event happen.
A special thanks goes to our hard-working, dedicated Advancement Committee, as well as to Derek Fortin, WLACC's Director of Support Services, for all their work that makes this event happen!

The Eagle Scout court of honor is undoubtedly the proudest moment of a young Scout's life. Years of learning, teaching, and hard work culminate in this special honor that only the most determined Boy Scouts obtain. That is why the National Eagle Scout Association has launched a national Eagle Scout search program.
"We want to find and contact every living Eagle Scout and register his achievements, past and present," said NESA Director Bill Steele. "This effort will culminate in Roll Call: The National Eagle Scout Registry--a publication that will capture the tradition, history, and honor of our nation's Eagle Scouts and will be available only to bona fide Eagles." Steele added that only Eagle Scouts who agree to be listed and who are adults will be included in the directory.
Be sure to watch for updates about the search. NESA has partnered with Harris Connect Inc., the nation's membership publication experts, to help locate all Eagle Scouts and to produce Roll Call. If you know an Eagle Scout, please alert him about this important project. You might even contact your local council office to alert them of Eagle Scouts you know, and be sure to include their contact information.
