The Cub Scout Cup was started in 2006 by Robert Bell, a leader from Pack 494 in Canyon Country, as part of his Wood Badge ticket. The Cub Scout Cup started with the simple idea that Scouts would go wild at the prospect of winning a giant cup trophy. Several times a year, Cub Scouts have great derbies where they compete individually; here, each den competes as a team, and the den scores are averaged to produce a pack score. The pack with the best score takes home the cup, and bragging rights for a whole year.
Events vary from year to year. Past events have included an obstacle course, soccer and softball skills, navigation, water relay, and some other COPE events designed for Scouts to compete and have fun. In addition, the event has featured parent/Scout events like a three-legged race and a water balloon toss.
