Camporee 2008 is April 25, 26, 27, 2008 - MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
Well, Camporee 2008 is off to a good start, and we are proud to announce this year's theme:
Discover Adventures in Scouting
CAMPOREE - IT IS TIME!
Registration for Balboa Oaks 2008 Camporee is open. The camporee booklets were passed out at the March roundtable. Weren't able to make it? No problem! Open the two attached files, and you'll have the entire booklet at your fingertips! Included in the larger file is the registration form on page 24.
A few new things to note:
CUB SCOUTS - You'll note in the Saturday schedule that we have blocked some time for you to visit the Boy Scout camps. Check out how the older boys camp. See the cool gateways they make. Webelos - if you haven't considered a troop into which to bridge, now is a great chance to see them all at once!
BOY SCOUTS - Gateway competition has now been split into two categories - 50 poles or less, and 51 poles or more. We want to encourage all troops to build one, regardless of the number of boys participating. Show your scout spirit! Also new - each troop will be required to build a camp gadget. Check your scout books.
Thank you everyone. Please make sure your registrations are turned in no later than April 3rd. If you're too close to the cutoff date, please bring your completed registration form, roster of all individuals attending, and your registration fees to the April 3rd roundtable. You'll also be able to get a stamped tour permit, which of course is required of every unit.
Good luck - see you in April!

Boy scouts:
As all the boy scouts know, one of the main competitions at camporee is gateways. Last year we had some great gateways but not al the troops participated.
This year WE WANT THE ALL THE TROOPS TO PARTICIPATE!!!! Small or Large we want them all.
Troops 307 and 911 (our larger troops and past winners of the competition) have offered to help the smaller troops get going on their gateways.
We will be posting here different ideas and building techniques for the gateways.
To start this off, we have posted a file sent to us by Bruce (The Almighty) McDonald with some ideas on gateways. Of course we don't want you to copy exactly these ideas, but we want you to look at them and generate your own idea of your gateway.
That's what it is all about, its your gateway and your idea!

Here are LAST YEARS (2007) Gateway Competiton rules and Score Sheet. You can download these and get an idea for what the judges have looked for in the past. THESE ARE NOT THE RULES OR SCORE SHEET FOR THIS YEAR (2008).
We will posting the rules for this year soon.....So make sure you check back!!!
